Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania is located in Lower Merion township in the Main Line of Pennsylvania in the 19004 zip code. Bala Cynwyd lies on the boundary line between Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties. Bala Cynwyd was settled around 1682. It was settled shortly after William Penn's landing. Bala Cynwyd was settled  by Welsh Quakers, who named it after the town of Bala and the village of Cynwyd in Wales. Bala Cynwy contains some of the oldest stone mansions, which were mostly built between  1880 and 1920.

Established in 1906, the Neighborhood Club of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, has continuously worked to preserve the residential character of our neighborhood and to promote civic welfare and community spirit.

In 1884, George B. Roberts, President of the Pennsylvania Railroad, opened the Schuylkill Valley Division of the railroad.
